I registered today! I only register one more time after this... kind of a weird feeling. I'm excited about the classes that I'm taking and I have classes with friends, so next quarter should be fun!

Only register one more time after this quarter. That is crazy. Also, getting to register on the first day is pretty much awesome. Not that it matters anymore because Sociology classes are closed to non-majors until the 7th day. But still.

All of my classes are Monday/Wednesday/Friday and I have no breaks in between, but they're all in the same building. Go Sociology! And a bunch of people that I know are in the classes that I'm taking which makes me happy.

Sociology 421 - Advanced Topics in Demography
Sociology 330 - Intro. to Social Psychology (people told me today that I look like the professor)
Sociology 321 - Demography

Classes start at 10:00 and end at 2:20. I'm pretty excited. I'll have two of the same professors that I have now (for the demography classes... I'm excited to start them).

And I'll never finish my music minor, and that kind of sucks... oh well.

OK, this picture was slightly computer-enhanced to have these contrasting colours.

It was a geometric white sculpture and a metallic one in the back, but ended up being a nice angle.

Today started off bad. Didn't get any sleep last night. Woke up to a voicemail from my mom, found out that my cat got hit by a car last night and died. :'(
Then had to go to the last home volleyball game. Talking about my cat made me cry again. Then it was senior night which is always emotional, and if I see people cry I usually cry. So I tried to control that.

Lewis did take me to breakfast this morning which was nice.

I should have gotten a flu shot or something this year, because once again I'm sick. Which sucks. Makes me really unmotivated to do just about anything. This picture isn't great but I really don't care.

My cat died last night. Got hit by a car which crushed his pelvis. He somehow made it home even though he couldn't walk. I spent a good part of this morning crying. Lewis took me out to breakfast. Last home volleyball game was today... told people what happened and cried some more. Doesn't help that I am super duper overly emotional. It was also senior night which made me tear up. Because people crying for some reason makes me cry. Ugh. On top of all that I got no sleep last night and I'm getting some sort of cold/flu/gross ness.

This cake is so richly delicious and chocolately. Leftover birthday cake from Lewis' birthday with his parents. Needs like 8 glasses of milk to go with it.

The next few days are going to be ridiculously busy. The only day between now and Tuesday that have no sporting events of some kind is Friday. Volleyball tomorrow, last volleyball game and two basketball games Saturday, two basketball games Sunday, and basketball Monday. There's soccer Friday and Sunday but I don't have a car to get to those.

Hey non-fandom peeps, skip this post, as it will just confuzzle you. This means you, mum.

So, my dear yuletide writer, you've been allocated me as your recipient. I'm so sorry. I know my choices of fandom are esoteric, and that you've likely just matched one of my fandoms. But you can rest assured that I will love whatever you write. Thank you for writing for me.

Actually, I'm kinda lazy, so I will simply point you to SophiaP's yuletide letter, since I agree with everything she says. I mean it, you know, I'm a fanfic whore and I don't care if you ignore the specifics of my requests (actually, I tried not to be too specific because I was terrified of getting a request I couldn't manage to write and I didn't want to inflict that on anyone else).

I really just want to see fic for these fandoms.

So, just quickly going over the fandoms again (new details in italics):

Stephen R Donaldson - Mordant's Need (Any)

This is probably my favourite pair of books. I love the characters, I love the world, I love the journey. I believe that Geraden and Terisa are made for each other, but I'm open to all pairings. And the more I think about this, the more any pairing sounds like it would be fun to explore (Terisa / Lebbick could be angsty fun). Or one could write a gen story. I'd particularly love to know more about what happened when Havelock infiltrated Vagel's coven all those years ago, or how the happily ever after worked out for all the characters. Do more women become Imagers now that the crusty old men realise that girls can be powerful too? Suffice to say I'm a fanfic whore and will love whatever you write. :)

One of the things I noticed while writing the requests is that I would love to see any of these ideas explored. Why isn't there a fandom for these books? Especially with all the potential pairings (Elega/Terisa, anyone?)

I read a rant a few days ago about the sexism in the books and how it makes them hard to read for the rantee, but I can't quite see it myself. Yes, Terisa starts out a passive character, and the Princesses don't truly participate until the second book (preferring to sit around and complain about being women in a world of men), but by the end of the story they're all strong characters who have taken control of their own destinies and while each of them has been paired off with a man (save Torrent), that feels more a gesture towards the "happily ever after means marriage" fairytale trope than any particular act of "keeping the womenfolk down". And I do believe that in general Mordant has become a better place to be a girl by the end of the books.

Isobelle Carmody - The Legendsong (Any)

I think I would like best a story with Ember meeting the Unykorn, drawing out the parallels with Shenavyre. But I'm very happy to receive any story, from something slashy with the Myrmidons/Soulweavers to a segue back on earth. Glynn and Chaos would go well together, or maybe something much more original talking about the visionweavers and whether their weavings have the ability to manipulate fate.

This was an unfilled request from last year, the only one I really wanted to keep. The few times I have ventured into the lands of Carmody-fanfiction I've been disappointed, and I'm not sure why. I suspect it may just be that she attracts many younger fans, but I love her more adult series, and hope some day that the fanfiction will be equal to the original.

Mina de Malfois (Any)

Mina! Arc! Joshen! Xena! Fandom! Hmm. that's not exactly a request, is it? I would love a story from the point of view of one of the other characters, about fandom drama, and Mina and how she gets out of a scrape. As slashy or not as you like it.

Suffice to say that I've read everything in the fandom, and want to see something new. If you've said you're going to write Mina you probably love all the same things about it as I do, because you're a fan, and you see aspects of yourself in all the characters... Now that I think about it, I'm surprised there isn't more self-insert Minafic. I suppose it would be sacrilegious.

Battle Royale (Any)

How the program changes us all into monsters. Hints of bittersweet longing for the past and friendships lost. Would slightly prefer something about one of the more minor characters than the leads, but am happy with whatever. Based on the book preferred, though the movie was a good adaption. I've only read volume one of the translated manga and hated the reality tv setting.

Oh my did I hate the reality tv setting. I seem to recall too that they had to do some rather horrible rewriting in the later volumes because whoever it was that had that bright idea had never even read the ending. So let's just agree that the manga should be avoided.

This one's my token movie request, because I wanted to be sure that there was something for you to fall back on if you were a book requestee and needed an emergency change of fandoms. And there's so much room for writing any genre of fanfic here. Violent deathfic, hatesex, quiet sadness before the dawn, sweet romance in the face of adversity, pretty much everything is up for grabs. And I will read it all.

I guess that's it (and it ended up much more longwinded than I was expecting (which I should have expected after last year's letter)). I just want to say "thank you" again for using some of your precious spare time to write for me. I'm looking forward to reading it. *grins*

We paid a $90 deposit for electricity last year, and this month it got credited to our account + interest, so we don't have to pay for electricity for the next two months. Which is pretty much awesome.

I am exhausted. Lewis cooked me breakfast in bed this morning.

Had brunch with a friend today. It was amazing. Huge plate of half french toast, half fresh fruit. Only $8. Delicious!

Then we had dinner with Lewis' parents, and that too was delicious. We're having dinner with them tomorrow again for his mom's birthday.

I'm going to be full for like a month after all of this delicious food.

Because every other day I get emails from freshman who probably never show up to class, but then realize that unless you have notes you're probably going to fail the class, then send out mass emails asking people for notes so they don't fail the test. Ugh. The last one said I've been sick and missed class the last three Thursdays. Right.

Only one more month of having to deal with the stupidity. Only 5 sociology classes left...

Yuletide, woo!...

What does it say about me that the fandoms I requested were Mordant's Need (Stephen Donaldson), the Legendsong (Isobelle Carmody), Mina de Malfois and Battle Royale? Worse, that Princess Tutu was only cut at the last minute because I realised that it was overrepresented in the requests and that I could probably find the fiction I wanted elsewhere on the internet?

Clearly I'm a crazy fantasy fan who is into meta and also loves laughing at fandom. When I'm not trying to kill everyone.

Anyway, anyone reading this who is a fan of something but believes that no one else on the internet is into it should totally go to the Yuletide site and sign up for the fiction exchange. It's great fun and you meet all sorts of interesting peoples. And get fanfiction out of it.

Shooting a free-throw. This picture turned out pretty well for being taken with a little point and shoot. The lighting in there was also 10x better than the lighting in our gym, so that probably had something to do with it.

We braved the torrential downpours that Washington is experiencing to go to UW to watch our men's basketball team play their team. We lost, but only by 20, which isn't bad considering they're in D1 and we're in D2. We also shot better from the 3 point line. :)

The person I thought of as my best friend just sent me an e-mail telling me they want nothing to do with me anymore.

I don't understand why, or what I did wrong... I just feel so hurt and so confused...

And now I just found out that Matthew apparently knew about it and didn't tell me anything about it.

I'm told there's some kind of trust issue, but I don't know what happened or why. I never tried to hurt anyone and I've never done anything I thought was bad... I know I'm not the nicest person, in fact, I'm pretty fucking awful. But I love my friends and I always have... I try to be as good to them as I can be...

I'm not looking for sympathy, and I don't want people to reply telling me I'm a good person or whatever... I just want to know what I've done and why I'm so horrible that my friends never want to keep being friends with me.

I just don't understand what's wrong with me, and why I seem to ruin every thing I have that's good. I asked her to be my Maid of Honor because I thought of her as my best friend. Now I'm told she just woke up one morning and decided she didn't care about me and wanted nothing to do with me. I don't know what to say or what to do, because I'm just stunned, betrayed, and so... sad.

I don't understand what happened or what's going on. All I know is I'm so sorry.

Edit: Now I'm being told that the problems they have with me are all of these things that happened years ago that I thought was long ago resolved, forgiven and forgotten, but apparently no longer is? I don't understand. And I'm bitter and pessimistic. What am I supposed to say to that? These past two years have been the worst of my life. I'm sorry I've let that affect other people in my life. It was never my intention.
